Trying Something New

Sometimes my LiveJournal blog has been shaky and sometimes my readers aren't able to comment. So I'm actually trying to migrate my blog to Blogger, and we'll see how it works. So far, it's been a right regular pain in the @ss.

Apparently, there's a way to 'fetch' all the LiveJournal entries and make them into XML files and move them, but I'm not holding out any hope that this is going to work for me. My husband and I have been working on that for a while now and we've gotten absolutely nowhere. Of course, I use a Mac, and the program isn't compatible with Mac Software, (It's a linux program) so we dragged out my hubby's work computer and that didn't work either. We tried every permutation of my passwords, URL's journal names and zip... error messages every danged time. And of course, it's not like I was absolutely brilliant in my LiveJournal posts but some of them contain sweet memories (and tough ones) that I don't want to lose.

Bottom line? Here's my LiveJournal URL:

That was the blog I was using as a way to connect with readers, talk about real life, plan books, make recommendations, and announce work related things. I'll be continuing that blog here, at:

News that is strictly related to my work as an author is on the website:

In the next few days, I'll have new cover art, a book release announcement, a few contest winner announcements and I'm likely to want to vent a little. Cause that's just how I roll... :D

Stick around and I'll see if I can't start making this work. In the meantime, you can save yourself the trouble of having to look this up time and time again by creating an RSS feed or whatever it is that lets you know when a new post is published.

Thanks for all your support!

  1. Love the new blog, Zam! Good luck with the move. :)

  2. Heya Zam! Nice new digs!! Uh, when's the Blog-warming party? I'm nicely stocked up on virtual drinks if you wanna borrow some!!

  3. Oh, in case you're wondering who S.H.Rheahall is, it's Cherie over on your Yahoo group. S.H.Rheahall is my penname...cause it makes me giggle every time. Cause it's my name, but not. Cherie Hall. S.H.Rheahall. Okay, I'm officially a word-nerd now. *blushes* So, um, welcome to bloggerland Zam. :)

  4. Thanks Lisa and Cherie, I really appreciate you coming by to take a look. Yep, I think I need that virtual drink now! :D

  5. Um, hi! I'm a big fan of your work! I'm kinda sad you're leaving LJ, because I had you there on my flist and it was easier to follow you that way, but this blog is cool, too! Like the colours.

I can't wait for the new book announcements! Any info on when St. Nacho's 4 is coming out? It must be my most anticipated book this year.

  6. *pokes* Testing testing ... is this thing on?

Oh there we go. I knew you'd get it working in the end - well, kinda. You could just repost the stuff from LJ that you want to keep as retreads over here too?

*experimentally pokes at the infrastructure just to see if it'll hold up*

Yep, you're good ... now for the content bit :)

  7. Hi Susanne, thanks so much! I don't really know all my peeps at LJ and I have tried to figure that out. But I think this will make it easier for people who don't have LJ accounts to buzz by and comment, plus, there's that feed burner, RSS thingie. (I'm such a luddite!) Thanks for stopping by, I'll try to keep everyone posted about everything newsworthy somehow!

  8. Moonwolf, I thought about that. I have got 830 posts at LJ, some of which are very dear to me, including me talking about the work when I was really new and unpublished, and some of the life posts I made, for example the one I wrote right after my mom passed away.

There are moments that you can't remember because while they were happening you were numb, and now when I try to think where was my head? I have no clue. If nothing else I'll archive them somehow and figure out how to keep them for the kids to read later.
